About the event
imPRESSed Studio is Anna and Marcin Ciolkosz’s vision of future letterpress printing and bookbinding heritage workshop/museum. The derelict premises of old Ryan’s Shop in Ballinadee are home to our collections of vintage printing presses and bookbinding tools, possibly the largest in West Cork. During the ACM we offer a rare glimpse into the current state of the machines and an interactive virtual tour of where we see ourselves shortly. We will have a few presses handy to print keepsakes, including our baby Albion from the 1850s. Our handcrafted journals will also be for sale to support the restoration of the site.

“Over a decade ago we decided to leave the corporate and commercial world and follow our passion for books and vintage machinery. We wanted to create working museum/heritage workshop specialising in bookbinding and letterpress printing, preserving both machines and skills. Covid has changed our plans somewhat, and we are gainfully employed again. However, our plans have not changed: we still want to create space where our collection could be displayed and used by others. After all there are not many 19th century presses left in Ireland to print on.”
