August Craft Month is a unique celebration of craft with events taking place across the island of Ireland, providing exciting opportunities for the public to experience, participate in, buy and learn about craft.

August Craft Month 2022 is now open for Event Registration and welcomes applications from craft makers in Ireland. Events are invited from individual makers, guilds, associations, networks, galleries and venues which will enable audiences to come together to celebrate and enjoy craft experiences whether in-person, online, or both.

Who can take part?

August Craft Month 2022 is for makers, communities, families, collectors, and enthusiasts across the island of Ireland.

What type of events can you do?

Craft talks, open studios, craft trails, exhibitions, workshops, Meet the Maker events, How-Tos and Try-Outs.


Who can have an event included?

We welcome event applications from, for example:

  • Individual craft makers
  • Guilds and networks
  • Galleries, retailers and museums
  • Councils and arts centres, cultural venues
  • FE & HE institutions and crafts educators
  • Heritage organisations

Publicity and promotion

How will we promote your events?

Starting with a launch in early July, Design & Crafts Council Ireland, Craft NI and Cork Craft & Design will be working together to promote August Craft Month events through:

  • PR and regular news releases throughout the summer
  • Social media coverage from all organisations
  • A digital advertising campaign
  • Maker and event profiles; regular spotlights on disciplines, areas or key dates
