Additional information
In Irish minds, Kilkenny is synonymous with craft. The establishment of Kilkenny Design Workshops in the city in 1963 brought skilled makers to the area. That foundation was strengthened in the following decades through initiatives by Design & Crafts Council Ireland, including the creation of the Pottery skills course in 1990 and the Jewellery skills course in 1991. In addition, the National Design & Craft Gallery opened in 2000.
