About the event

The Burnavon, Cookstown will be shining a light on the wonderful work of local artists and crafters during August Craft Month.

Keep an eye on the Burnavon’s social media platforms for award-winning artist, Andrea Hayes.  Andrea is a textile artist based in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.  Much of Andrea’s work is inspired by places and spaces from the Northern Ireland land and seascape.  Her distinctive style of artwork incorporates hand painted, fabrics, metallic flakes and copper fragments, all delicately finished with hand and machine embroidery.

As well as being an award-winning textile artist, Andrea delivers workshops for adults and children as part of the comprehensive arts programme in the Burnavon and her crafts are for sale in the gift shop.

The talents of Lynda B Jewellery and Ceramics will also be highlighted during the month of August.  The work of Lynda, a ceramicist based in Co. Tyrone will be showcased during Craft month, including her unique handmade porcelain pieces as well as samples from Lynda’s latest jewellery range which combines intricate porcelain pieces with gold lustre and sterling silver.  Lynda crafts are for sale in the Burnavon gift shop.

Dasalee Textile Art is owned by sisters Stephanie Hazelton and Sheila Oldcroft, two textile artists based in Co. Tyrone who bring together their individual skills in a unique manner to produce their textile art.

Stephanie and Sheila apply their inspiration and passion from Irish wildlife, nature, and places of interest, in their textile artwork pieces, which are both contemporary and yet still retain an element of traditional charm.

Hand crafted works include a range of mounted or framed pictures, greeting cards, lavender bags, and bookmarks. All pieces are individually hand painted onto locally sourced 100% Irish linen. Dasalee crafts can be purchased from the Burnavon gift shop.
