The Makers House was established in 2019 to provide and manage an art and craft gallery, shop and workshop space.
Participation is open to artists, designer makers and skilled craft workers residing in Wexford. Located in the Creative Hub, a cultural centre set in the heart of Wexford town, our energetic and progressive approach has gained us a far-reaching reputation as a place where creativity, design, collaboration and engagement occur; where the public can meet the Maker and buy directly from a Wexford artist, designer, craftsperson.

“Our ‘Meet The Maker’ ethos means we develop personal relationships and unique interaction with our visitors. Having conversations, demonstrating our techniques, giving a greater understanding of the work of the artist and designer.

We sell a stunning range of high quality art and craft: candles, cards, ceramics, encaustic art, environmental art, glass, gold leaf work, jewellery, mandalas, paintings, photography, print, soaps and herbal remedies, sculpture, stained glass, textiles, woodturning. We also deliver a varied and creative mix of workshops and demonstrations.

In 2021 The Makers House became a member organisation of Design Craft Council Ireland. This prestigious achievement is testament to the energy, enthusiasm and engagement of The Makers House team.

We contribute greatly to the cultural and creative life of Wexford and participate in Culture Night, Wexford Festival Opera (winning Best Theme Window 2022), National Craft Month annually..

During August Craft Month you will meet some of our Makers:

Annette Byrne of Julsuluv creates beautiful handcrafted jewellery and wearable designs to empower you, help you feel good and uplift you too. Inspired by the beauty, properties and stunning colours of precious stones given to us by Mother Earth.

Ann Kenny is a printmaker and illustrator who loves stories: reading them, listening to them, finding them. She especially loves when they find her! An accidental texture becomes a landscape, she adds a character and suddenly a story appears. She is excited to present her fabulous new range of hand printed tote bags.

Pauline Quigley delves into the colourful world of fused glass and stained creating an amazing range of pieces from small suncatchers to pretty large sculptural pieces for outdoors. She gives regular workshops in her purpose-built rural studio.

Inspired by the landscape and ever changing seas and skies Mairead Stafford makes ceramic sculpture – stargazers and ceramic pictures with houses full of dreams and butterflies following their heart. Wild blossoms vases, bowls filled with a mermaid sea green, tea sets …brimming full of love.

Mary Wallace takes inspiration from ordinary everyday things which she makes extraordinary! Images of beautiful yet broken vessels featuring native Irish and garden flora are a unique fusion of Japanese ceramics and Irish flora. She uses gold leaf and people are always fascinated to see how she does that.

John Sinnott first discovered woodturning in the 1980s and has been fascinated ever since. He uses locally sourced wood and takes inspiration from the colours and patterns of the grain revealed as he cuts into the wood. With a background in engineering he once even made his own lathe!

Sharon Murphy of Handmade Studio is an interior designer who discovered jewellery and polymer clay, which took her to the US, France and the UK to take workshops with some amazing tutors. She went on to teach classes herself and her jewellery has been featured twice in the UK magazine Making Jewellery.
