“This celebration of 20+ years of creativity in clay is an event not to be missed.
On Wednesday, 2nd August, Sarah will host a slideshow presentation that will be followed by a live demonstration of her clay-making techniques. Those in attendance will enjoy a studio tour and refreshments. Additionally, guests will be gifted with goodie bags as a token of appreciation for their support. Booking essential.
My journey in Irish pottery has been an exciting mix of tradition and innovation, starting from Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art & Design, to establishing my studio in Dundalk in 1999. My technique features a three-pronged approach. First, wallpapers and latex moulds lend a distinctive pattern to my clay slabs. Then, occasional pattern mismatches become unique features in the final pieces. Finally, messages, drawings, and stamps breathe life into my creations.
Learning in this journey has come through sharp curves and gradual realisations. My creations serve as tangible reminders of joy and nostalgia. I believe in positively impacting our planet; hence, my packaging is recyclable, plastic-free, and mainly uses recycled materials. My brown kraft cardboard and paper capture the spirit of everyday moments.
Handcrafted pieces, to me, carry love and skill. My supporters’ likes, comments, referrals, and purchases keep me motivated. A quirky detail about my packaging – the little houses I draw on parcels during the lockdown, which I’ve come to love. Balancing pottery, motherhood, and being a Scout Leader in Dundalk – it’s been a rewarding journey.”
