Spinning sheep’s wool into yarn

About the event

Each week in August ‘Made in Sligo’ will host a demonstration by one of their makers.

Mary will be demonstrating the age old craft of spinning sheep’s wool into yarn suitable for knitting, crochet or weaving, using Irish wool purchased directly from local farmers on a spinning wheel. Explaining the processing of the “raw” wool and preparing it for spinning. Mary will have drop spindles available for people to have a go themselves.
