Silver Leaf Calligraphy

Designed for anyone who has already learnt the basics of modern calligraphy and is ready to take their layouts a step further. Discover simple techniques to add clean, metallic highlights to your work. The focus will be on bouncing, using changes in size, height and spacing to create movement and flow in your lettering.

Learn how to stack words, allow letters to rise and dip, and let phrases weave together. Through guided drills and practical exercises, you’ll explore rhythm, spacing and balance, building confidence in when to push your letterforms and when to pull things back. You’ll put everything into practice by creating a finished piece that brings together bouncing lettering with an elegant layout.

To mark Island Arts Centre’s 25th Anniversary we’ll use silver inks and metal leaf.
