Seisún – A celebration of rhythm through clay and music

Featured Image

Seisún is a unique gathering of creatives from the world of craft and clay, beautifully enhanced with a vibrant backdrop of visual arts and music. This lively, rhythmic event brings together talented craft makers with creatives from the fields of music, poetry, and visual arts. It functions as a fully interactive experience that allows people to form a true connection on many levels.

Together, the artists from both Cre Collective and 4 artists from The Belfast Ceramic Studio will weave seamlessly between the worlds of rhythm and contemporary craft. This multi-sensory gathering celebrates the famous Fleadh Cheoil festival coming to Belfast by creating an immersive, welcoming space for everyone. The absolute focus of the experience is the people and the ceramic art. In the centre of the gallery space, visitors will find a large, circle of unique pottery and sculptural ceramics. There will be representation from the visual artists as hanging pieces will serve as a beautiful backdrop to this central focal area. The brief for the exhibition focus is Rhythm and what we each bring to the Seisún, both visitor and artist alike. The Cre Collective are currently making for this event.

Visitors can dive into lots of different sensory layers throughout the fortnight 2-16th August. The event hosts hands-on clay craft workshops from various artists, these include a variety of hand building and wheel-throwing demonstrations. There will be poetry readings and live musical interludes featuring traditional, classical, and harp music. This vibrant space features an on-site pop-up shop, giving visitors the ability to buy directly from the makers themselves.

Best of all, guests can pull up a chair, chat to the makers about their specialized craft, and learn the personal stories behind their work. The Pigment Space Gallery, run by Conor McGuinley, sits just off the lively vibrant setting on the Ormeau Road in South Belfast.
The venue is a short walk from great independent businesses, including the Errigle Inn, which currently runs the highly successful monthly Belfast Arts Club.

With the Fleadh festival’s large family campsite situated in Ormeau Park, the experience is right on the doorstep of the festivities. The organisers aim to target both international festival visitors and include the vibrant, local Ormeau residential community, inviting everyone to come and celebrate the rhythm of craft, melody, and community together under one roof over the two-week period.

The pigment gallery will be essentially an open studio space for 2 weeks, open daily, times to be confirmed. An image for advertising is currently in process.
