Join Orla and Armand as they offer you the opportunity to create your own piece of art with real seaweed.
During the workshop you will learn how to recognise seaweed, how to prepare it for the pressing and about all the care it will need to turn it into a beautiful and unique piece. The foraging is made in advance for the workshop but if you want to come pick your own seaweed contact in advance so they can give you instructions.

“Farraige is helping revive a technique that is hundreds years old called Oshibana in Japan and that was later used by scientists and botanists to preserve specimens. Some seaweed specimens pressed more than a hundred years ago are still intact and kept in the National Herbarium. Following the traces of Ellen Hutchins in Bantry, we hope to give people the curiosity to know more about seaweed, its beauty and its numerous uses in today’s society as the interest for seaweed is exploding.”
