This is an easy and effective way to decorate your pot or plate with impact!
Sgraffito (in Italian “to scratch”) is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of colour or colours (underglazes or coloured slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay colour underneath.
The clay item is leather-hard and not too dry but hard enough to hold shape when pressure is applied. Kelly your teacher will then fire your project in the Kiln & collection will be 3-4 wks after the workshop.

“Creativity has always played a big part in my life.
As a retired Hairdresser of 30years working with my hands became second nature to me.
My love of Clay began in my High School years from my upbringing in Australia.
My creations start their humble beginning on the pottery wheel.
Over recent time mounds of clay evolved to become a canvas that tells my story.
Each piece resonates what I grew up around and love so dearly-
“The Great Australian Bushland” but with a twist of Irish Coast on my backdoor step here in County Kerry.
There’s something so soothing and meditating about working on the wheel with clay.
I love what I do, also to pass on that passion to my 4 children & also to students.
I love working with my hands. Each piece is unique and forms evolve and change constantly.”
