Sashiko & Visible Mending with AH Designs

Featured Image

Give your clothes a new lease of life in this inspiring workshop led by Aoife Harvey of AH Designs, an award-winning sustainable textile artist.
Focusing on the traditional Japanese craft of Sashiko, this hands-on session will introduce you to a simple yet effective method of reinforcing and repairing textiles through decorative hand stitching. Originally developed as a practical technique for extending the life of garments, Sashiko has evolved into a celebrated craft that combines function, creativity, and sustainability.
Aoife will guide you through the basics of the technique, helping you create stitched samples while exploring how visible repair can become a beautiful feature rather than something to hide. Along the way, you’ll gain practical skills that can be used to repair and personalise clothing, accessories, and household textiles.
Aoife will also share her experience working with reclaimed materials and discuss the role of mending, repair, and mindful consumption in creating a more sustainable future.

All materials will be provided, and no previous sewing experience is required.
