Ocarinas are clay whistles, which have been made for a long time in different cultures. In this workshop you will build your own using pinch pots and then decorate your design to make a completely unique working orarina. The mechanics of creating the whistle will be explained along in the process. When the whistle is finished you can decorate it with clay techniques and colour.
The workshop will take a couple of hours to make and decorate the ocarina and get it finished and ready to be fired.
This class is perfect for beginners or experienced clay artists, everyone can work at their own level of expertise to complete their ocarina.

“The class is held in my clay studio in Waterford on Sunday August 13 at 4pm, there are only 4 places available so there is plenty of support to get your project done.
After the class, firing and finishing. When the class is finished, your creations still have a ways to go to be finished. I will dry them out carefully in the studio, then they will be fired to 1000 degrees Celsius. Then I will put transparent glaze on them and fire them again to make them shiny and water resistant. This will take a few weeks. When they are ready, I will let you know by text and you can collect your finished ocarinas from my studio.”
