Mono Printing on Clay

Join our resident artist Fang Zhao to learn how to mono- print on to clay.

You will learn to transfer a drawn image by ‘inking’ up a glass plate with stain or oxide and then transfer this image to clay, the class will focus on mono-printing onto clay tiles but this technique can be used on 3-D surfaces as well.

Tiles will be glazed and collected two weeks later.

Fang Zhao’s work is inspired by her Chinese background, particularly her interest in traditional Chinese mountain painting. She uses organic mountain shapes as a metaphor to examine her personal life journey. Working from thematic sketches, she experiments to explore materials, form and surface decoration.

If you have imagery please bring it with you. line drawings and patterns work particularly well but we will also have imagery and patterns for you to work with too.
