Meet the Maker Fundraiser for West Cork Animal Welfare Group (WCAWG)
Have you visited Myross Wood House in Leap recently? If not, do you know about The Courtyard Collective, a group of talented makers, artists and designers based in West Cork, who came together late in 2023 to open a shop in one of the front rooms of this historic house. Showcasing ceramics, textiles, skincare, original paintings, prints, goats’ milk soap, knitwear, greetings cards, sculpture, jewellery and candles, you’re sure to find a unique gift there for that special someone in your life.
The shop also sells a range of soft toys to raise much-needed money for the West Cork Animal Welfare Group (WCAWG), so when it was decided to host a ‘Meet the Maker’ event, it made sense to run it as a fundraiser for WCAWG!
The shop members will be demonstrating a range of techniques from 12pm until 4pm on Sunday August 24th, so come along, have a go and learn some new skills. Tea/coffee and cake will be available with labelled buckets alongside for your donations.
To find us, follow the Craft Shop signs off the N71, on the western edge of Leap village, down the 1km drive to the peaceful grounds of Myross Wood House. Please note that a one-way system will be in place on the day, in from the Leap side and out onto the Union Hall road.
Bring your dog along too, and go for a relaxing wander around the walled garden, or down through the woodland past the waterfall to the water’s edge. There are benches dotted around so bring a picnic and make a day of it. Mark Sunday August 24th in your diaries for a unique West Cork experience.

Myross Wood House is approx 1km along a single track tarmac driveway off the N71, just to the west of Leap village. Low step up into the building. Parking on site. Toilets on site (not wheelchair accessible). Dogs welcome.
