Meet the maker/demonstration with Adelle Hickey in the Epic Emigration Museum Shop, CHQ Building North Wall Dublin D01 R9Y0.
Taking place on Thursday 7th August from 3-4pm, come along for this free event where Adelle will discuss the journey of her work from her love of Irish Visual Culture, to the first carving that led to retail success both in Ireland and abroad and on-line sales.
Adelle will also present drawings, carvings and the equipment used to make her prints along with a demonstration of how they’re made.
Both Hearts of Ireland and Home from Home are inspired by Adelle’s continuing research in Irish Visual Culture. In particular 19th Century Rural Ireland. Traditional household objects and natural landscape are brought together through a series of carvings. Each design is hand carved to create a block for hand printing onto greeting cards, prints and 100% Irish linen. The design narrative is woven together to tell a story in a contemporary and colourful way.
