Lamp and Shade Making
Join Orla and Laure for a full day of creativity, craftsmanship and slow making in the heart of Clonakilty, West Cork .
In a world that often asks us to move faster, this workshop is an invitation to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something with our own hands.
Together, we will create a beautiful handmade lamp from start to finish. In the morning, you will learn the art of lampshade making, choosing from a carefully curated collection of cotton & linen fabrics with Laure.
After a relaxed lunch break in Clonakilty, the afternoon will be spent painting and personalising your own ceramic lamp base under the guidance of ceramic artist Orla. Through colour, patterns and play, each participant will create a piece that is entirely unique to them.
Like many traditional crafts, lampshade making and ceramics invite us to slow down, get curious and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something with our own hands They remind us that beautiful things are rarely rushed and that there is joy to be found in the process itself.
Whether you’re naturally creative or simply curious to try something new, this workshop is all about exploring, experimenting and enjoying the process.

The workshop takes place at 17 Ashe Street, Clonakilty, in the town centre with car park close by the Clonakilty College. Toilets are available on site and there is public parking available nearby. Due to the nature of the venue, please contact us in advance if you have any specific accessibility requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you. A light lunch, refreshments and all materials are included in the workshop price.
