Lacemaking demonstrations

Featured Image

During August craft month we are delighted to bring you demonstrations in Irish lacemaking on demand at The Kenmare Lace and design Centre in Kenmare. Kenmare Lace is a needlepoint lace made with a needle and thread. It is based on the buttonhole stitch. There are two pieces of cloth at the back. Over this is the design and over that a layer of matt contact. The lace is worked on this background. You start by laying down a double thread around the outline of the design.
