Additional information

“My wee studio in the Listowel Business Park will be open to callers every Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm, and I’m also happy to meet you there at any other time (including weekends) by appointment 🙂

Telling stories with fabric and stitches, my colourful recycled creations are inspired by the magic of nature and the mountains, countryside and coastlines surrounding my cottage workshop in County Kerry.

I am self taught and have developed my own distinctive style of working with fabric. I pride myself in the sustainability of the business, and my work incorporates textile waste from local businesses, repurposed clothing, scraps of old lace and broken bead necklaces. Layers of textured fabrics, Irish tweeds and wools are used to re-create the colours and textures of the surrounding landscapes. Each textile creation is carefully handcrafted using a mix of hand and machine stitching, raw edge applique, beadwork, embroidery and paint, and every piece is guaranteed to be one of a kind.

I was recently filmed as part of RTE1’s The Angelus, in conjunction with Adapt Kerry Women’s refuge. In the film you can briefly see the process of making a wall hanging, from sorting through scraps of recycled fabrics to hanging it in its new home at Adapt Kerry. Words of hope in Irish and English are stitched into the finished piece, and aim of this Angelus was that the final artwork would reflect not just a creative journey, but also the struggles of many people who have faced a darkness not of their making. This Angelus is currently being shown weekly on RTE1.”
