Ireland’s leading contemporary design exhibition, Irish Design Works, returns to Ballymaloe Grainstore.
Shanagarry, Co. Cork — This summer, the historic Ballymaloe Grainstore will again become the epicentre of Irish creativity as it hosts Irish Design Works 2026. Running from Friday, 24th July to Sunday, 16th August, this free exhibition brings together a curated selection of Ireland’s most prestigious designers and makers for a three-week celebration of world-class craftsmanship.
Following its successful transition to Cork in recent years, Irish Design Works has established itself as a must-visit event for interior designers, collectors, and those seeking unique, heirloom-quality pieces. The 2026 show features a diverse range of disciplines, including bespoke furniture, contemporary lighting, ceramics, and sculptural works in wood, glass, and willow.
In an age of mass production, Irish Design Works offers a refreshing alternative. Every piece on display is uniquely designed and handcrafted in Ireland. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to meet the creators, with a selection of makers present at the Grainstore every weekend to discuss their process, materials, and inspirations behind their work.
“We are delighted to bring the skills of Ireland’s finest makers to Ballymaloe’s stunning space again this year,” says Alan Horgan of Alan Horgan Studio, one of this year’s showcase organisers. “Irish Design Works is a masterclass in contemporary design. It’s great because it is an antidote to the mass-produced offerings flooding the market. Instead, it offers a direct connection to the people behind these pieces, which are built to last a lifetime.”
