About the event

Headford Lace Project will host an interactive celebration of bobbin lacemaking. This heritage craft will be explored with an exhibition of lace replicas made by our tutor, Jackie Magnin. Replicas include lace from Cong found on a research trip to National Museum of Ireland in 2019, as well as recently discovered bobbin lace from a private collection in Wales, with excellent provenance. Both research trips were supported by DCCI. There will be live demonstrations and an opportunity for the public, young and old to try bobbin lace for the first time. A talk will trace the evolution of the project since 2016 outlining our research to date, revival of the skills and reimagining of the story of Headford Lace to a local, national and international audience.
