About the event

Join Glaze: exploring and demystifying line blends, a masterclass with Helen Noble at the Belfast Ceramics Studio. This master class is dedicated to exploring linear and triaxial line blends and is aimed at those who have a basic understanding of glaze and have some previous experience.

It is a theoretical and practical workshop that will equip you with the knowledge and experience to become more confident in your own glaze research and development.

It is important to mention that due to Health and Safety restrictions, this class will not involve mixing your own glazes from raw materials. Instead, all glazes used will be prepared ahead of time, so they have time to settle before blending. All firings will also be in an electric kiln, firing to stoneware temperatures.

Learning Outcomes / Aims and Objectives:
• Understanding and creating your own linear line blend and testing on several clay bodies.
• Understanding and creating a triaxial line blend.
• Keeping accurate records.
• Each participant will take away multiple glaze recipes and test tiles.

Overall, the methodologies and approaches you learn on this course will help you develop new glaze surfaces or colours.
