Anne Butler’s Objects in Time will open at the Golden Thread Gallery on Thursday 3rd August at 5pm as part of Late Night Art in August 2023. The exhibition will then run until Saturday 2nd September.
Anne Butler is a ceramic artist based in Northern Ireland. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, UK and abroad. The work is inspired by natural and manmade structures and is constructed to reveal associations between cultural and individual memory as well as contrasting qualities of strength and fallibility, permanence, change and loss. The parian porcelain vessels, wall pieces and sculptures attempt to explore the material and the effect of time.
“My working method is intrinsically connected to the act of making and the endless experimentation with the changing state of parian porcelain. A wide palette of techniques, which include casting, hand-building and sculpting are continually being challenged and developed to contrast the precision of industrial techniques and geometric structure with the fallibility of the handmade.” A Butler
About Anne:
Butler completed a BA in ceramics from University of Ulster in 1985, and then studied an MA in ceramics in Cardiff. She has exhibited extensively internationally and been awarded the Rosemary James Memorial Fund Award and other ACNI grants.
