Creating Nordic Interchange
About the event
An Artist Talk and workshop with Pirjo Seddiki, Sirpa Mörsky and Ruth Osborne, who will be sharing the ‘story’ of initiating collaborative interchange between makers and practitioners in Finland and Northern Ireland.
10am-12.30pm: Informal Presentations
- Introducing an art, design and craft liaison between Creative Peninsula and Tampere, a city, representing Finnish textile heritage, that also stages an Open Studio festival.
- Showing creative outputs from the current interchange between Finnish artist, Pirjo Seddiki, and Creative Peninsula’s textile artist, Ruth Osborne.
- Sharing sustainable ways forward in fibre-led textile innovation – through Sirpa Mörsky and Jane McCann’s investigation into Finland’s emerging biomaterials.
1.30pm-4pm: Informal Practical Experimentation
For those who wish to stay on – bringing sketch books and media of their choice – to take inspiration form studio space on the edge of a beach – to experiment with techniques and applications aided by textile-oriented art/design/craft practitioners.

Creative Peninsula, now in its 22nd year, is a thriving annual festival of creativity taking place in the picturesque borough of Ards and North Down.
The region is well known for its many Artists and Makers and during Creative Peninsula visitors have the opportunity to view their work, purchase or commission a unique piece or art or try their hand in a workshop.
This event is a part of August Craft Month with Craft NI, Northern Ireland’s celebration of craft. Summer 2023 will mark the 17th annual August Craft Month with makers all across Northern Ireland getting involved.
