A group exhibition by members of the Glass Society of Ireland at Jerpoint Glass exploring themes of connection through glass. The show highlights relationships between maker, material, community, and the broader environment.
We are delighted to be exhibiting works by 45 GSOI members at Jerpoint Gallery, Kilkenny, responding to the theme of Connecting.
Making connects us with the world, through the raw materials we shape, the sharing of skills over generations and the exchange of crafted objects. There are many ways that we are interconnected through our practices. However, in contrast, making can often be solitary, head down in the studio, immersed in the work. The ebb and flow between connection and separation is a familiar rhythm for many artists.
This exhibition invites us to reflect deeply on the connections that sustain us. How can glass add to a conversation about a more connected world? In a time of division, can making offer us a root to understanding our shared existence? What are the symbiotic relationships that we need to thrive?
Our goal is to highlight how glass, as a material and practice, reflects and shapes the networks we are all part of – human, more-than-human and beyond.
