Step inside the ASTRL Fibres studio space and see where the making happens.
On Saturday August 1st the ASTRL Fibres studio door will be open to the public. Whether you’re curious about what goes on behind closed doors or simply want to stop by for a wee chat and a cuppa you are very welcome.
On the day you’ll get the chance to meet the artist and maker Alison Pascoe, and discover some of the endangered craft skills that make up her practice; macramé, passementerie, ply split braiding and kumihimo. Alison will be demonstrating some of these rare skills and offering visitors the chance to have a go at braiding on a traditional Marudai, ply-split braiding with handmade cords, making cordage with foraged plant fibres and tying some decorative knots.
Doors open 12pm – 4pm ~ all are welcome!
