Art in the Wild

About the event

Unwind your mind and connect with nature as artist Lucy and ecologist Sophie take you on a wild wander through the stunning nature reserve, as you explore nature with your senses and gather natural materials and inspiration to make your own art materials from the wild.

Then unleash your creativity as you make your own eco-friendly journal, leaf-printed bag, charcoal from willow, and pigments, inks, brushes and more from the wild. Finish with some mindful downtime in nature, where you’ll use your new materials to capture a lasting memory of your experience. All of our workshops are suitable for absolute beginners, and no previous experience is necessary.

Additional information

“As the workshops include time outside in nature (eg. a nature walk in our nature reserve or time visiting our sheep), in all weathers, participants are asked to dress in suitable clothing (eg. waterproof jacket, boots etc.).

Windrush Farm is a picturesque 45 acre eco-farm, nestled in the rolling green foothills of the Wicklow Mountains, and is home to three generations of the Nicol family. In 2019, born out of a desire to share their passion for the environment, craft and the land, farmers Sophie (who is also an ecologist & silversmith) and her mum Lucy (an artist) began to transform their farm into a ‘living, learning landscape’, where visitors can unplug, recharge and connect with nature, through hands-on craft workshops and private farm tours. In all of the eco-friendly craft workshops, participants use materials gathered and grown on the farm and in their 11 acre nature reserve, as the ‘raw ingredients’ to create their own unique piece of art to take home.”
