Throughout her career Kim has curated, juried and selected exhibitions, lectured and written about the history and development of museums and art curation, accessibility of art collections, curating and interpreting Troubles art, both nationally and internationally. Kim sat on the Project Board for the redevelopment of the Ulster Museum, which won the Art Fund prize in 2010. Following on from this experience she has worked with national partners, including the National Portrait Gallery and the Courtauld Gallery, to secure capital funding for their own redevelopment projects. About the exhibition:

Anne Butler’s Objects in Time will be on display at the Golden Thread Gallery from Friday 4th August to Saturday 2nd September. (Make sure to check gallery opening times).

Anne Butler is a ceramic artist based in Northern Ireland. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, UK and abroad. The work is inspired by natural and manmade structures and is constructed to reveal associations between cultural and individual memory as well as contrasting qualities of strength and fallibility, permanence, change and loss. The parian porcelain vessels, wall pieces and sculptures attempt to explore the material and the effect of time.

“My working method is intrinsically connected to the act of making and the endless experimentation with the changing state of parian porcelain. A wide palette of techniques, which include casting, hand-building and sculpting are continually being challenged and developed to contrast the precision of industrial techniques and geometric structure with the fallibility of the handmade.” A Butler

This event is a part of August Craft Month with Craft NI, Northern Ireland’s celebration of craft. Summer 2023 will mark the 17th annual August Craft Month with makers all across Northern Ireland getting involved.
