MEET THE MAKERS IN THE MAKERS HOUSE WEXFORD
August Craft Month in The Makers House is a special and unique experience.
We have a full programme of activities throughout the month of August. Visitors can watch demonstrations, take part and try art and craft and other techniques for themselves. Welcome to our beautiful new gallery and shop, located on the Slaney estuary, by the edge of the sea. Home to talented Wexford based artists and makers. Meet with them, talk about their ideas and inspiration.
Our month-long festival event is aimed at those interested in having a hands-on experience of art craft and design. Suitable for all age groups. Families are welcome. The Makers House venue is fully accessible.
See the stunning range of work by our Makers : Print, Ceramics, Art (including mixed Media, Wax Encaustic, Gold Leaf, Watercolour, Oils,Acrylic, Pastels), Woodturning, Jewellery, Knitwear, Silverwork, Textiles, Candle Chandlery and Soap.
Kicking off with Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann which comes to Wexford from 3 – 10 August will be a great time to visit us.

The ancient art of gold leaf began thousands of years ago by the Egyptians who believed that gold was the colour of the gods and pharaohs. Even to this day there is something fascinating about seeing goldleaf applied to an object or piece of art.

Curl, Coil and Spiral – Make A Celtic Triple Spiral Earrings
Explore the basics of jewellery tools and wire techniques, and make your own jewellery piece. Learn how to shape and use one of the most ancient decorative and symbolic forms: the spiral.

John will introduce you to the mysteries of discovering a beautiful wooden bowl hidden within a block of wood. Curious about the various types of wood he uses? How he ‘knows’ what to find inside? All will be revealed in his fascinating talk and video presentation.
