The theme of the West Cork Creates Summer Exhibition 2025 is ‘Feast’. The word feast comes from a Latin root festa meaning festive, joyful or merry. ‘Feast’ is a broad theme that should be freely interpreted and give scope for artists to respond in ways that are innovative and specific to their practice.
The theme, at its simplest, could refer to an abundant and sumptuous meal, to be shared with others. Feasts are often celebratory, such as a wedding feast or a religious/commemorative feast day, with rituals symbolising something important to those involved. Feast can equally be used in other contexts, such as ‘a feast of colour’ or ‘a feast for the senses.’
