Animal Instinct” Exhibition & Neurodiversity-Focused Workshops at 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast

Andrew Cooke, known as Kookietiki, is set to unveil his latest body of work, “Animal Instinct,” in a compelling new exhibition. This new collection will be displayed alongside a selection of his earlier pieces, offering a comprehensive journey through Cooke’s artistic development, right from his foundation year at SERC Bangor. The exhibition not only showcases his distinctive style but also highlights his remarkable resilience and dedication to his craft.

Cooke’s personal story is one of inspiring perseverance. Hailing from a working-class background, he faced a pivotal career change due to arthritis. It was this challenge that led him to an art class at SERC Bangor, where he discovered a new path. During this time, he was also diagnosed with dyslexia. Far from being a hindrance, this diagnosis fueled his determination, and he went on to successfully complete his Fine and Applied Art degree at the University of Ulster in 2012. His artistic journey stands as a testament to overcoming adversity and embracing new beginnings.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Andrew Cooke will be hosting a series of insightful workshops. These sessions will specifically focus on dyslexic thinking and are designed to cater to Neurodivergent participants. Drawing on his own experiences, Cooke aims to create an inclusive and empowering environment where participants can explore their creativity, understand the unique strengths of neurodivergent thought processes, and develop their artistic skills. The workshops will celebrate the diverse ways of thinking and learning, fostering an atmosphere of support and discovery.

This exhibition and accompanying workshops promise to be a powerful and engaging experience, offering not only a visual feast of Andrew Cooke’s unique artistry but also an inspiring narrative of resilience and a valuable opportunity for neurodivergent individuals to explore their creative potential.
