About the organiser
‘Catherine Callanan is an award-winning visual artist. She studied Textiles, Ceramic and Glass in Contemporary Applied Art in Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork. She furthered her studies by completing the MA in FineArt and Process. Catherine’s work is material based and conceptual. It incorporates viewer engagement in immersive environments.
She is interested in the complex and often unpredictable process of making and the purposeful inclusion of imperfections. Catherine was a teacher for 20 years before returning to college to focus on her more creative endeavours. She has facilitated many workshops and enjoys engaging with the public to pass on creative skills. Catherine believes that art and craft should be fun, relaxing and “feed the soul”.’
