Stained Glass Taster
Looking for a unique and creative way to spend your weekend? Come along to the stained glass workshop at the Discovery Park, where you’ll discover the art of stained glass.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the essential steps of the copper foiling technique, including glass cutting, foiling, and soldering. Step by step, you’ll be led through each stage of the process as you create your own unique stained glass piece to take home.
Perfect for beginners or anyone curious about the art of stained glass. Absolutely no creative experience needed.

You will be guided through the following on the day

✧ scoring, cutting and breaking
✧ shaping, foiling and soldering
✧ cleaning, polishing and hanging
Additional information
• Please keep in mind that there will be quite a lot of standing and moderate labour during the making of your stained glass suncatcher. Glass cutting also requires a certain amount of strength and mobility in the wrist. The workshop is not suitable for people with restricted mobility.
• Not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to the lead content in the solder
• Limited to 6 spaces to optimise workshop space and provide high quality tuition.
• May run over depending on progress. It is highly recommend to keep the following hour free and avoid needing to rush off.
• Attendees wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and no open sandals. Aprons and protective equipment will be provided.
• Customers should aim to arrive on time to ensure the whole group is ready to begin together. Please plan your journey / parking.
Cancellation policy
Most people are considerate and understand that last minute cancellations have a negative effect on a business such as preparation time/ordering of resources/loss of revenue. If I don’t outline a cancellation policy I will personally suffer from the consequences. This policy is designed to reduce the last minute ‘no shows’ and to protect my business. I am very grateful for your understanding.
4 weeks in advance of your course date – I offer a full refund or one free date change.
3 weeks in advance of your course date – I offer 75% refund or one free date change.
2 weeks in advance of your course date – I offer 50% refund or one free date change.
Cancellations received with less than 2 week’s notice / no shows on the day – unfortunately no refund or date change will be offered.
Refunds can take between 2 – 4 weeks to be fully processed

Parking There is a main on-site car park available at Castlecomer Discovery Park, located close to the Visitor Centre and Craft Yard area. Parking charges apply, with the first hour free: First 1 hour: FREE Up to 3 hours: €4 All day: €5 Facilities Due to the layout of the space unfortunately we cannot accommodate for wheelchair users. Visitors can enjoy a variety of facilities both within the Craft Yard and nearby in Castlecomer town: Tuk Tuk Restaurant – a popular on-site dining spot serving freshly prepared meals in a relaxed setting Jarrow Café – offering quality coffee, homemade treats, and light refreshments throughout the day Toilets – conveniently located in the Visitor Centre Castlecomer Discovery Park – just a short walk away, featuring woodland trails, outdoor activities, and family-friendly attractions
