Roslyn O’Donnell Ceramics, Open Studio
Roslyn is holding an ‘Open Studio Day’ at her studio in Jordanstown,on Saturday 1st August, as part of a craft trail, ‘From Cushendall to Islandmagee’ organised byCounty Antrim Open Studios (CAOS). The trail takes the visitor to studios and workshops ineight different locations across the county to view sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, furniture, handmade books, textile art and original artwork and prints.
Roslyn studied ceramics and graduated from Belfast Art College, exhibiting work in local galleries across NI including the Ulster Museum, the RUA and in London’s Solomon Gallery. She mostly works with hand building techniques – coils and slabs. Using a variety of clays and glazes she fires to earthenware and stoneware temperatures. Roslyn finds clay an expressive material and enjoys making individual, coiled sculptural pieces. Her work reflects her experiences in life: themes that she explores are birth, life, loss, landscape and nature. She works both two dimensionally and three dimensionally. Roslyn also enjoys running small group workshops from her studio in Jordanstown, Co.Antrim.
