About the event
Mosaic Artists Association Ireland (MAAI) is a newly formed mosaic organisation created to champion the art of mosaic in Ireland. They are hosting a mosaic day in Wexford, with a morning workshop and site visits to local mosaics in the afternoon.
The workshop is led by experienced mosaic tutor, Helen McLean, with a number of other MAAI members on hand to assist, and is free to MAAI members. It is held in Helen’s studio and all materials are provided.
Participants will make a small mosaic in glass tesserae onto tile backing board. Lunch (not included in price) will be held at The Farmer’s Kitchen where workshop participants will be joined by other mosaic enthusiasts. The group will then visit the Wexford Whale mosaic and historical pebble mosaics made by sailors in the 19th century.

The Mosaic Artists Association of Ireland (MAAI) was formed in 2022 after a number of mosaic artists across Ireland came together with the goal of creating a vibrant all-Ireland mosaic community. MAAI aims to highlight the work of Irish mosaic artists and encourage passion, creativity and excellence in the medium. We welcome new members and are open to everybody who is interested in making, studying or celebrating all things mosaic in Ireland.
This event is part-funded by Design & Crafts Council Ireland for August Craft Month 2023.
