Recycled and Landscape Language Migration – Quilts from the Irish Patchwork Society
About the event
Two quilt exhibitions – one venue: ‘Recycled Textiles’ and Landscape Language Migration.
“Language Landscape Migration”
19 art quilts, each 20″ x 20″ expressing members’ responses to the themes of Language Landscape Migration. The pieces incorporate diverse and innovative textile art techniques.“Recycled Textiles”
Pieces are a response to an EQA challenge to create a piece using recycled textiles. From recycled jeans to delicate embroidered napkins, the works on display use a wide variety of materials and techniques. They are a great demonstration of how to quilt in a sustainable way.
As well as the two exhibitions there will be demonstrations of patchwork and an opportunity for visitors to make a patchwork coaster on Wednesday August 17th and 24th.

About the organiser
This event is part-funded by Design & Crafts Council Ireland for August Craft Month 2022.
The IPS is celebrating over 40 years of promoting and participating in patchwork and quilting in Ireland. Over the years we have grown from one branch based in Dublin to 6 branches around the country. Members meet locally to show their work, learn from each other and inspiring speakers from the textile arts field. Our quarterly newsletter keeps us all up to date on the activities of the other branches and exhibitions by members at home and internationally. The Western Branch meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month from September to May in The Galway Bridge Centre, St Mary’s Road Galway H91 C2C3.
