In Conversation – Making at the R-Space Gallery
Come along to the R-Space Gallery in Lisburn on the 20th August for the first Re-Use & Re-Imagine Adornment artist talk events on at 2pm in the gallery.
In Conversation – Making- allows an insight into the careers and different approaches to navigating research & materials with Sarah Cathers and Shannon McShane.
Sarah Cathers is an artist and collector of oddities, make small sculptures out of found objects and foraged materials, documenting people and place. Fascinated by adhesives and their ability to secure and fasten two objects together, she aims to preserve an objects history and importance, using these materials to preserve and trap their history and original importance.
Shannon McShane is a silversmith/jeweller based in Belfast. Shannon’s inspiration is drawn from the coast surrounding where she grew up. Deriving strong influence from the stunning rugged textures and tones of nature. Within her practice she explores the notion of preciousness through the combination of precious metal and the ritual of collecting abandoned objects from along the shore surrounding where she lives.
On the 3rd September, the In Conversation – Making series continues with Stuart Cairns, Anne E Boylan & Celine Traynor.
