Have you ever accidentally shrunk a natural wool sweater by tossing it into a washing machine? The hot water and agitation cause the garment to shrink – sometimes so much that it will now only fit a doll! Feltmaking uses similar principles but in a more controlled and gentle manner.
Witness this magic as feltmaker Juliane Gorman expertly layers wool fibre from sustainable, Irish-grown sheep. Next, she sprinkles warm, soapy water and then carefully massages to transform the loose fibres into stunning three-dimensional felted hats.
Come to Juliane’s ‘Felting Forge’ (a small shed in her backyard) to see feltmaking: It’s a genuinely mesmerising process that will captivate your imagination!
When: Sunday, the 25th of August, from 12 – 5 PM.
Event Address: 46 Balally Drive, Dundrum, Dublin 16, D16 H9P0
Suitable For: All Ages
