On Saturday August 17th Garrett Mallon Design House will open it’s doors for a special Meet the Maker event to celebrate August Craft Month.
Award winning goldsmith Garrett Mallon will be hosting the event in his gallery and open to view workshop in the medieval village of Carlingford County Louth. Garrett will be available to talk visitors through his work and the inspiration behind his collections, as well as sharing some of the techniques and equipment that goldsmiths have been using for many centuries.
In addition to his workshop and jewellery showcase, Garrett has curated a selection of the best of contemporary Irish craft from almost 100 makers across the island, with all work made in Ireland- an ethos which is very important to him and his team. As part of the Meet the Maker event some of Garrett’s colleagues and fellow designer makers will be in the gallery to talk about the processes and inspiration behind their work in various disciplines. Renowned makers such as Sarah McKenna with her distinctive ceramic style and Martina Scott who creates beautiful limited edition prints on Irish linen will be there to welcome visitors to the Design House and talk about their work.
The event will run from 1pm-5pm and light refreshments will be served as Garrett will be celebrating 10 years of the Design House in Carlingford this summer.
