Local Fibreshed Day – West Cork
As part of Fibreshed Ireland’s work, they aim to facilitate the creation of self-directed local hubs for skill sharing and the promotion of textile crafts. These events will mark the start of two of these local hubs.
Following on from the inaugural Fibreshed event in Ballydehob last year, the West Cork Fibreshed Day will consist of craft demonstrations, skill sharing, talks by local experts, open discussions and a showcase of the locally-available materials that can be used in textile crafts. They would like interested people in West Cork to gather together to discuss the potential of what we can achieve on the ground to promote local clothing and work as a local group under the guidance of Fibreshed Ireland.
This event in Ballydehob, Co. Cork is organised by Sonia Caldwell & Liadain Aiken. Kathy Kirwan, Jean Long and Kirstie Affleck will be giving talks on their work.
Entrance will be free and open to anyone in the community – Fibreshed Ireland members and non-members alike.
