Learn to create a kimono in this one day workshop. Learn to cut, sew and finish a kimono from a commercial pattern. Pick fabric of your choice to create your own style. Fabric will be need to be picked to your skill level, silks, satin or velvet are not suitable for the less experienced sewers. This workshop is suitable for anyone who has completed my beginners course or anyone who knows how to use their sewing machine.
What will you learn:
You will learn to read a paper pattern including which size to chose for your measurements
Lay pattern correctly onto fabric and cut precisely
How to pin your pattern pieces together to allow for easier sewing
How to finish your kimono to a professional standard.
This workshop takes place in Deerpark Community Hub, Carlanstown from 9:45am to 4:30pm. Class size is small to allow for individual attention. The workshop costs €150 which includes your pattern which costs €28 to buy and print. You will need to bring your own fabric, linen or cotton are suitable. Please note we will not be doing any of the decorating sewing in the photo in the workshop, time won’t allow for it.
