Heritage Straw Beekeepers Skep making workshop

Featured Image

This one day workshop is a unique opportunity within NI, particularly for bee keepers to become immersed in straw for a full, hands on day Skep- making.
Louise McLean is an award winning Skep maker who for the past ten years teaches and demonstrates at the  Greenmount Campus for the Ulster Bee Keepers Association.
Once  used as a medieval hive, these beautiful conical shaped woven straw Skeps are now mostly used for gathering bees when they swarm.
*The course may also be of interest to those who would like to learn the techniques and make a lovely coiled straw bowl,  preferable to the Skep?

Places are limited and we therefore ask anyone interested to DM/PM  or email the team at atlanticcraft@btinternet.com for further info and booking.
