About the organiser
“Artist Bernie Dignam has lived in Connemara, since 1997. Since taking early retirement from art teaching in 2019 she has concentrated on her professional practice. Her exhibition of work inspired by Connemara showcases a variety of techniques.
Her textiles use ancient techniques to respond to her surroundings through a contemporary lens. Drama in Natural engages her attention and challenges her to represent this intensity in her work. She aims to uplift the viewer, capturing the splendour of nature and reflecting this in her pieces.
As a printmaker, she brings attention to the nuances and details that line allows. This work is considered and process-driven, it leads her to discover the multiple layers of hidden meanings & facilitates the articulation of cultural and environmental issues using the landscape as metaphor.”
