About the organiser
“I am a botanical caster. My subject is the natural world and my primary medium is plaster. Mixed with water and poured into voids once occupied by a sprig of wisteria, sun spurge or pheasant berry, it sets, warm to the touch. Expanding ever so slightly, the setting plaster captures the most infinitesimal botanical detail of the natural world. Some casts call for colour, others for the play of light and shadow alone, and yet others for the glorification of gilding. I will demonstrate the painstaking process of creating a botanical plaque, engage with audience questions and display the wide array of end products of the process, from wall art to candles, jewelry and light fittings.”
